🌿 Plant Doctor

Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 29, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Plant Doctor ("we", "the app") handles your information. Short version: your garden data stays on your device, photos are sent to an AI service only to identify plants, and we never sell your data.

1. Data stored on your device

Your plant list, care schedules, journal notes and photos are stored locally on your device. We do not keep copies of your garden, journal, or photos on our servers. Deleting the app deletes this local data.

2. Plant photos and AI identification

When you use identification or diagnosis, the photo you choose is transmitted securely through our protected Firebase backend to Anthropic Claude solely to generate the identification or diagnosis result. Photos are processed transiently and are not stored by Plant Doctor. Requests use a pseudonymous Firebase user identifier and are protected by Firebase App Check.

3. Anonymous account and usage limits

The app creates a pseudonymous Firebase account without asking for your name, email, or phone number. We store only daily scan counters and recent anti-abuse counters associated with that random identifier. These counters enforce the free allowance and protect the service from automated abuse.

4. Analytics

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used (e.g., which screens are opened, whether onboarding is completed). This data is aggregated and pseudonymous — it does not include your photos, plant names or personal identity. You can read Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

5. Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple App Store / Google Play and our billing provider RevenueCat. We receive an anonymous purchase status (for example, "Pro active") and never see your payment details.

6. Notifications

Watering and fertilizing reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. They do not involve any server.

7. Permissions we request

8. Children

The app is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Your rights

Since your garden data lives on your device, you control it directly: deleting the app removes it.

Anything you published in the community is stored on our servers, and you can erase it from inside the app at any time: open Community, tap the shield icon in the section header and choose Delete my data. This permanently removes your posts, comments, photos and community name, together with the anonymous account they were tied to. The deletion happens immediately and does not require contacting us.

For any other privacy request or question, contact us — we respond within 30 days.

10. Changes

We may update this policy; the current version always lives at this page with the effective date above.
